From The Nature ConservancyASHEVILLE – The Nature Conservancy is looking for volunteers to remove invasive plants from its Bat Cave Preserve in Rutherford County. A workday has been scheduled for Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The preserve is home to an amazing array of native plants including some beautiful wildflowers, which are just beginning to bloom. Nonnative invasive plants have crept onto the preserve andthreaten our native wildflowers. Volunteers will help remove Japanese honeysuckle, privet, wineberry, English ivy and multiflora rose.
In addition to learning more about invasive nonnative plants, volunteers will also have the opportunity to see the early spring plant show at the preserve, which is open by invitation only.
