Act Now! Governor Cuts $8 Million From ADAP
Governor McCrory’s proposed budget would cut $8 million from the State AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). ADAP saves lives, saves money, and protects the public health. Email the Governor now. Tell him, cutting $8 million from ADAP is a shortsighted and dangerous move.
The state AIDS Drug Assistance Program provides medication to 6,500 people. It saves lives and reduces new HIV infections. It allows people living with HIV to live relatively healthy and normal lives. It saves money by reducing future medical costs. Don’t let our Governor threaten its funding without a fight! Email the Governor now. Tell him that HIV/AIDS is a serious public health issue for our state, and access to medication is our best tool to stop the epidemic. Ask the Governor to please reconsider his decision to withdraw critical funding from the State AIDS Drug Assistance Program.
This month, Governor McCrory signed legislation that will deny health insurance through Medicaid to 500,000 North Carolinians, including more than three quarters of ADAP recipients. Everyday, decisions are being made in our state’s capital that may have devastating consequences. We need you to make calls, send emails and when possible meet with elected officials.
Today, we need you to contact Governor McCrory. The governor can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org and by phone at 919-733-5811 or 800-662-7952.
