Why: The young men who make up the French Broad River Academy are an adventurous bunch. Students at this Asheville-based middle school for boys are true global citizens — curious, adventurous and socially minded. Earlier this spring, students and staff traveled to Costa Rica to experience Tico culture up close. The students explored the country's rivers, mountains and customs while they expanded their Spanish-language skills. "In my six years of leading international field experiences, this has been the best trip yet," says Will Yeiser, school director. "The character building and life lessons learned are invaluable and can't be quantified on any standardized test."
Travel opportunities like these are essential to the school's philosophy of preparing young men for our "increasingly globalized and connected world." This mission comes with a price tag, but the benefits of educated citizens are priceless. Help fund dynamic learning experiences at the French Broad River Academy's spring benefit and silent auction. The public will take its pick of silent-auction items, such as Disney World passes, a Hilton Head vacation and a three-week session at Camp Mondamin. For music, the rock and roll sounds of Ten Toe Turbo will drift through the air. The funds will go towards financial aid, curriculum enrichment and the school's dedication to creating passionate, worldly young adults.
