Tickets are already on sale for a beer dinner of historic scale. Five breweries will collaborate at Wicked Weed on Tuesday, May 28, for a five-beer, five-course meal. Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Oskar Blues and Highland Brewing Company will send representatives and specialty beers to the event.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a “flagship cocktail hour,” which, in this context, amounts to an hour of drinking signature beers with representatives from each of the participating breweries. The gathering will be relatively small — 76 tickets are on sale through Eventbrite for $80.12, with taxes and fees included. For more information, visit fivebeerdinner.eventbrite.com.
Sunny Point Café has already released the menu for its beer dinner with Sierra Nevada. The four-course meal features a main dish of fried rabbit, spoon bread and roasted vegetables (a vegetarian option will also be available). A representative from the brewery will speak about the beers as well as Sierra Nevada's Mills River facility. The dinner takes place on Thursday, May 30, and costs $40 per person. For reservations, call 252-0055.
Beer Week includes breweries from near and far. Accordingly, The Market Place will host Allagash Brewing Company, based out of Portland, Maine, for an evening of small plates that complement the Belgian-style brews. That event will be ticketed, too, although the restaurant hasn't released the details yet. For more information, visit marketplace-restaurant.com.
Look out for more food-and-beer events at Luella's Bar-B-Que and Greenlife Grocery, where tickets are not required. For a full list of Asheville Beer Week events, visit ashevillebeerweek.com.
