If you read Muriel Barbery's The Elegance of the Hedgehog, then you know Michael Reynolds (sort of): he edited the book for Europa Editions. The New York-based indie publishing house was founded in '05 and focuses on bringing European authors to American writers (to the tune of 30 titles per year). Reynolds has been editor-in-chief since '08 — his translations include Italian journalist Daniele Mastrogiacomo's Days of Fear, an account of being held hostage by the Taliban. Reynolds is currently on a speaking tour which brings him to Malaprop's on Thursday, March 28. 7 p.m., free. http://malaprops.com.
