Attn Gen-Xers: Win tickets to see Molly Ringwald in Sweet Charity

Don’t forget to pick up our March 21 issue to read Alli Marshall’s intriguing interview with former teen queen Molly Ringwald, who’s set to appear in the musical Sweet Charity at the Peace Center in Greenville. Two tickets for opening night (Tuesday, March 27) will go to the first reader who correctly answers every question on my All Molly Guide quiz (post your answers in the Comments section).

All Molly Guide — A Quiz:

1) Years before John Hughes made her a star, Ringwald appeared for one season on what popular TV sitcom?
2) In a surprisingly affecting, but little discussed, TV movie, Ringwald played a suicidal teen. What is the name of the movie, and how does her character, taking her boyfriend with her, finally end it all?
3) In what 1980s movie did Molly Ringwald sport long, straight hair and bangs (at least for the first half of the film)?
4) To what New Jersey-born musician/producer/actor was Ringwald romantically linked at the height of her mid-‘80s fame?
5) Ringwald’s known for her red hair. But in one of her post-‘80s movies, it’s not her hair but what’s covering it that’s quirky. What is the title of the film, and what unusual-for-the-occasion head apparatus does Ringwald’s character sport in it?

    2.Surviving
    3. For Keeps
    4. I don’t know, so I am just going to randomly guess Not Another Teen Movie, and a winter cap.

  2. 1. Wasn’t she the older brother in “Diff’rent Strokes”?
    2. My vote goes to “Crushed between the gears of a ferris wheel at the county fair.” That’s for both parts of the question.
    3. “Howard the Duck,” and her hair was replaced with animatronic feathers for the second half of the film.
    4. Ray Parker, Jr., famous for the “Ghostbusters” theme song.
    5. Her special forces Green Beret in “Operation: Viet-Congo,” where Ringwald plays Sgt. Rodney “Glamour Girl” Smith. Playing a 280lb, 6’3 male mercenary was said to have been very taxing on Ringwald, who is also said to have gotten real USMC tattoos on her neck and bicep for the shoot.

    Now, how’sa about those tickets?

I just did in my early twenties what most did when they were teenagers, being free and exploring and making mistakes, but I did it in France. I did it privately.
