Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in the running for $100,000 prize

It’s easy to fall in love at first sight, especially with an animal, but Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is hoping that people will fall in love 16 times in a row on Monday. BWAR is throwing a 16-hour adoption bonanza on Monday, Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. to midnight. There will be refreshments, raffle prizes and discounted adoption fees. Bring home a cat, kitten, dog or puppy at a $50 discount to help BWAR win $100,000.

BWAR is up for the ASPCA $100K Challenge, a nation-wide adoption contest. During a successful qualifying heat, voters pushed BWAR to fourth place, allowing the animal rescue foundation to proceed to the final round. As one of the top 50 shelters in the country, BWAR is in the running for a $100,000 grand prize. BWAR’s goal is to find homes for more animals than any other qualifying shelter in the country.

“This ASPCA Challenge is the perfect opportunity for us to try out different tactics and get really creative at how we can increase our adoptions… With the amazing people in our community who support BWAR through volunteering, fostering, adoption and donating, we can not lose,” said Denise Bitz, Executive Director of BWAR, in a press release.

The animal shelter that saves the largest number of animals, above the 300 minimum, will win first place in the ASPCA Challenge. Second place is nothing to scoff at either. $25,000 will be awarded to the second place winner and one contestant in each geographic region will win $20,000.

What an awesome ASCPA $100K Kick-Off Party yesterday! From 8am until midnight, our doors were open to help our animals find forever homes – and that we did! We can’t thank our superb staff and volunteers enough who bustled all day long with a smile to keep things running smoothly. Yesterday, we found homes for 19 dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies, and returned one wayward pooch to his owners (with a new tag and microchip!), for a total of 20 lives saved to start of the Challenge. Thank you Mountain Xpress for spreading the word and helping homeless pet be adopted!
