Christmas Eve candlelight services

Christmas Eve is nearly upon us and churches across the region will celebrate with candlelight, scripture and song on Monday, Dec. 24. Do you know about other Christmas Eve or non-denominational services in the area? Share them with the community by leaving a comment.

Asbury Memorial UMC, 171 Beaverdam Road, will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5:30 p.m. Info: 253-0765.

Biltmore United Methodist Church, 376 Hendersonville Road, will host Christmas Eve services, including a family service at 5:30pm, soup supper at 6:15pm (bring a bowl) and a candlelight communion at 8pm. Childcare provided. Info: leslee@biltmoreumc.org or 274-2379.

Cathedral of All Souls, 9 Swan St., will host three Christmas Eve services: 3:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Info: www.allsoulscathedral.org.

Christ United Methodist Church, 81 Garrison Branch Road, Weaverville, will host a Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols at 6:30 p.m. Info: www.cumcweaverville.org.

First Congregational United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Asheville, will host a Christmas Eve service of candles, carols and communion at 5 p.m. Info: www.uccasheville.org.

First Congregational United Church of Christ, 5th Avenue W. and White Pine Drive, Hendersonville, will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service and advent lessons and carols at 5 p.m. Info: www.fcchendersonville.org or 692-8630.

First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville, 204 6th Ave. W., Hendersonville,  will host four Christmas Eve services, including at family candlelight service at 5 p.m., a SONday Praise Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. and candlelight communion services at 9 and 11 p.m. Childcare available for the early evening services. Kenilworth Presbyterian Church, 123 Kenilworth Road, Asheville, will host a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Refreshments from 6-8 p.m. Bring a light dish to share. www.kenilworthpresbyterianchurch.org.

Living Savior Lutheran, 301 Overlook Road, Asheville, will host candlelight services at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Info: www.lsavior.org.

Newfound Baptist Church, 2605 New Leicester Highway, Leicester, will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5:30 p.m. Info: www.newfoundbaptist.com or 683-3178.

St. Andrew’s on-the-Hill Episcopal Church,  99 Academy St., Canton, will host a family service at 5 p.m. and midnight mass at 10:30 p.m. Info: www.standrewscanton.org.

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 10 North Liberty St., will have 3 Christmas Eve services, at 4:30 p.m. a family service incorporating a Moravian Love Feast and traditional Lutheran communion. 7:00 and 11:00 p.m. will be identical traditional Lutheran liturgy with candlelight and communion. Special music will precede each service.

The Basilica of Saint Lawrence, 97 Haywood St., will host mass featuring the congregation’s children at 5 p.m. Mass en Espanol at 8 p.m., and midnight mass with carols at 11:30 p.m. Info: www.saintlawrencebasilica.org.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 235 Saint Johns Road, Fletcher, will host a Christmas Eve service featuring carols, scripture and communion at 6:30 p.m. Info: 684-9770.

Unity Center, 2041 Old Fanning Bridge Road, Mills River, will host a Christmas Eve candle lighting service featuring scripture and music at 7:30 p.m. Childcare provided. Info: www.unitync.net.
