Fourth of July Block Party

Festivities lasted all day at North Buncombe High School’s practice soccer field. The day was filled with performances, from poetry slams and storytelling to sports demos and of course live music, like Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band! Photos by Halima Flynt

To bad they claimed you could see the Asheville fireworks display and you couldn’t. Our family missed out on the show because of the false advertising they used to lure us out there.

    Not recommended for next year.

Yeah, there’s absolutely no place in Weaverville where you can see the fireworks.
The false advertising used for this event was disgusting.

The sound quality for the music was atrocious. Next time maybe they should hire a sound tech that actually pays attention to the performers instead of talking on the cell phone.

    Yep, big fat bust.

I actually tried to send an email to the contact person listed on the event info. I thought as a community organization they may be interested in knowing how the community felt about missing out on the fireworks. The email bounced back, of course.

What exactly are you doing with those donations MPAC?

I talked to a member of the Big Fat band and they said they did not get paid … what a rip off!!!

unfortunatly all of the performers were ripped off along with the sound eingineer. Although we were not payed by MPAC which stated and signed a contract to pay us by the16th of july. I thank all of the audience for allowing us to put on a great show.
