The best of times ***UPDATED WITH VIDEO***

Sunday night, hundreds of Xpress readers gathered at the Orange Peel for our first Best of WNC Showcase. The event featured winning musical acts from our Best of WNC poll — including stephaniesid, The Trainwreks and DJ Bowie — a gravity-defying fashion installation by designer R. Brooke Priddy and Renee Graziano of Asheville Aerial Arts, a performance by Asheville’s Santaland Diaries star Tom Chalmers and food from more than a dozen of our area’s best restaurants.

We were grateful for all the fun and fellowship — and for all who helped us raise funds for MANNA FoodBank. A hearty “Thank You” to everyone who helped make it happen. If you were there, thanks for coming. If you missed it, please join us next year. And either way, you can take in scenes from the night in our photo galleries here.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

I had a total blast and it was a big big success! I took photos too but forgot to put film in my digital camera… sheesh.
