• Catch the Brittany Reilly Band (playing bluegrass and country) at Tolliver’s Crossing Irish Pub (733 Haywood Rd., Asheville, 505-2129). 8 p.m. 

• Country and Southern rockers The Good Old Boyz (below) put in an appearance at the Town Pump (135 Cherry St., Black Mountain, 669-4808). 9 p.m., $5.

• Tressa’s Downtown Jazz & Blues (28 Broadway Street, Asheville, 254-7072) holds a New Year’s Day Show with Latin vocalist Whitney Moore (pictured). 9 p.m.

•  Ragtime/cajun/blues performer Woody Pines (below) makes a stop at Mo Daddy’s (77-B Biltmore Ave., Asheville, 258-1550). 9 p.m.

• Swing in the new year with retro swing and jazz from The Space Heaters (pictured). Jack of the Wood (95 Patton Ave., Asheville, 252-5445), 9:30 p.m., $5. (They also play The Back Room, 2701 C Greenville Highway, Flat Rock, 697-6828 on Saturday, Jan. 2.)

• In case you’ve been thinking about trying it: Elaine’s Dueling Piano Bar at the Grove Park Inn (290 Macon Ave., Asheville, 252-2711) offers a “Non-stop rock’n roll sing-a-long party show” every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 8 p.m.-1 a.m.

• Wilmington-based Pseudo Blue & the Majestics (below) brings the jam to Emerald Lounge (112 N. Lexington Avenue, Asheville, 232-4372). 9:30 p.m.

• Electronica group Walrus and the Carpenter (pictured) comes to The Garage at Biltmore (101 Fairview Road, Ste B, Asheville, 505-2663). 10 p.m.

• Born BrokeGarage rock trio plays blues at Tall Gary’s College Street Pub (4 College St., Asheville, 772-1489). 9:30 p.m.

• Riyen Roots plays old-school original blues at Westville Pub (777 Haywood Rd., Asheville, 225-9782). 9 p.m., $5.

Sunday, Jan. 3
• Check out the Irish session at Jack of the Wood (95 Patton Ave., Asheville, 252-5445). There’s an early jam at 5 p.m. and a later set around 7 p.m. No cover.

• The Chuck Lichtenberger Collective plays jazz at Barley’s (42 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, 255-0504). 7:30 p.m., free.

• Johnny Blackwell plays covers at Vincenzo’s (10 North Market St., Asheville, 254-4698) around 8 p.m.

• Vinyl at the Vault is a Sunday record party with Chris Ballard spinning. Rankin Vault (7 Rankin Ave., Asheville, 254-4993). 9 p.m.-1 a.m. No cover.
