Win tickets to the Beer City Bash at the Orange Peel! ***UPDATE: We have our winners***

***UPDATE: Congratulations to our Challenge winners, Bryan Freeborn and Chris Bubenick. The Challenge is now over.***

Tomorrow night (Friday, June 26), Asheville celebrates all things beer at the Beer City Bash, a celebration of the city’s new status (along with Portland) as Beer City USA.

The event will highlight local beer, along with music from Rat Jackson, Wilsin and Floating Action. A $10 ticket gets you in, enters you in a raffle and gets you two 9-ounce craft brews. (Get your tickets online here.)

But you could get in for free, if you’re one of the two winners of the Asheville Disclaimer Downtown Master Plan Challenge, which begins RIGHT NOW. Here’s the Challenge:

This week’s Disclaimer page features 75 local figures depicted as, well, figures. A pair of free tickets will go to the first two Xpress readers who can accurately identify at least 40 of the people depicted on the page.

• Click here to see that page, and when you’re there, enter your Challenge answers in the comment field at the bottom of the page. That’s where we will be monitoring the answers to pick two winners.

• NOTE: In order to prevent someone from simply cutting and pasting the first winner’s answers, the second winner will face an even greater challenge: Not only will they have to post the names of 40 of the figures — but at least 10 of those names cannot be ones that were found in the first winner’s answers.

Ready, set, go!

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

  1. Jon,
FYI, I’ve tried to leave comments on the Disclaimer page (not for tickets) a couple of times, but I was thwarted by the spam filter. Y’all might want to make sure it’s working properly.

  2. Berry

This is hillarious. You all should develop a program where you can upload a photo of yourself to get a “Disclaimer Figurine” avatar

  3. Jon Elliston

Thanks Anne Fitten, we’ll check on that. In the meantime, could you try leaving a test comment there?

  4. Just checked, Jon. I received this message again: “You have failed anti-spam tests.”

Surely, the Disclaimer folks haven’t blocked me? But I also see no one else has left a comment yet.
