Mardi Gras in the Rain

The Asheville Mardi Gras Parade kicked off the party on Wall Street Sunday afternoon. Everyone in the parade was dressed from head to toe in colorful outfits. The streets were filled with dancing and cheering despite the drizzling rain. The theme of this year’s celebration was “The Royal Wedding.” There were “Royal Wedding Bridesmaids” with crazy hats, masks and beads, and even a real wedding. John ‘Hobbit’ Hawes and Tamra Fountain tied the knot and waved to the crowds from the top of a wedding cake parade float.
