Readers, we have a special interest in your media preferences. So what did we learn from your votes in this year's poll?

First of all, it's clear that Xpress readers look to an eclectic mix of outlets. They're just as likely to Take a Stand! with WWNC's Matt Mittan as they are to get cranky with Xpress' Ken Hanke.

You like public radio -- especially WNCW. You check out blogs, too: Fresh from winning several BlogAsheville awards, Ashvegas (a.k.a. Xpress multimedia editor Jason Sandford) pulled top honors for Best Local Blog.

When can local media do better? Answers fell all over the map, with voters telling us to report both more and less on Parkside (that may be tricky) -- which you voted both the most overreported and underreported story.

Too much on former Sheriff Bobby Medford, you said, to our surprise. (C'mon, you don't like tales of government corruption?) Instead, you want more reporting on development (with more specifics!) and crime.

Amidst a familiar cast of fine reporters, Xpress contributing editor Rebecca Bowe made her Best of WNC debut at No. 1, following years of her stellar (if we do say so) environmental reporting.

Other things we learned about you: You like absurdity, again voting News of the Weird and Asheville Disclaimer as top pics. Then again, you also voted the Disclaimer your least-favorite feature.

And you said awful nice things in your responses. One reader, when asked to name what he didn't like about Xpress, offered this: "When I finish reading, I wish it were a daily." Shucks.
