Asheville Living Treasures announced today that they have begun to receive nominations for the first Asheville Living Treasures ceremony.
The first ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2011, in the Chapel of the historic First Baptist Church, on Oak Street, in Asheville.
During the ceremony, families and friends of the three selected Asheville Living Treasures will be invited to share stories and reminiscences of these wonderful elders with the community. Each will be presented with a certificate signifying that they are an Asheville Living Treasure.
Each of the selected Living Treasures will be interviewed by members of the committee prior to the ceremony, with an oral history being made of the interview. Each will also be photographed.
