North Buncombe FFA Chapter to host a BBQ fundraiser to benefit students in its agriculture program
WEAVERVILLE, N.C., Jan. 24, 2013 – The North Buncombe FFA chapter announces its second annual BBQ fundraiser to be held on Friday, February 1 in the North Buncombe High School cafeteria from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and people may dine in or take out.
The primary purpose of this event is to raise funds for scholarships given by the North Buncombe High School FFA alumni to graduating seniors who have been involved in the agricultural program throughout their high school career.
“While this is only our second annual event, we hope to make it a tradition,” Justin Gillespie, Agricultural Education teacher and FFA advisor at North Buncombe High School, says.
Gillespie adds that the FFA is hoping to sell 500 plates. In addition to plates, whole pork butts may be pre-ordered by Monday Jan. 28.
For those who wish to dine in, the cost is $8 per plate and includes a beverage, baked beans, slaw, bread and dessert. For those who wish to bring their tasty BBQ home, carry-out plates will be available for the same price. BBQ can also be purchased for $7 per pound. Whole butts are available for $30, but they must be pre-ordered and picked up between 5 and 6 p.m. on Friday.
