Christ School and Asheville Christian Academy to build Habitat house, hold fundraiser

Press release

From Christ School
For Immediate Release:

Christ School and Asheville Christian Academy are participating in the Habitat Student Build with the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. The two schools are responsible for raising funds and building a home for a family. The Venue in Asheville has agreed to partner with Christ School to donate ticket proceeds from its February 16th Lights Out event to the project.

Lights Out at the Venue in Downtown Asheville is a popular destination for teenagers to socialize and dance, but the upcoming February 16 event will also be an opportunity for students to help raise money for the Habitat Student Build. $5 from every ticket sold at Christ School in advance of the event will go towards the upcoming project. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, please email Director of Student Activities and Community Service, Isaac Rankin, at irankin@christschool.org or you can purchase one in person at the Christ School Bookstore at their campus in Arden.

Construction on the group’s Habitat house will begin in Swannanoa in early April, and students, faculty, and staff from Christ School and Asheville Christian Academy will put in the labor to complete the home by the summer of 2013. Students from both schools have worked on raising funds for the build while also increasing awareness about the need for affordable housing in Western North Carolina during the 2012-2013 school year.

The group’s mission is “One House. Two Schools. Everyone’s Future!”
