Official Asheville Fire Department statement on New Belgium fire
Full announcement from the Asheville Fire Department:
The Asheville Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at two separate locations, 91 and 165 Craven St. Crews arrived on scene to find the buildings, on the New Belgium site, to be fully involved. The fire was knocked down by 11:00 pm. Crews remained on site to complete overhaul and to monitor hot spots. By 1:13 a.m., all units were cleared.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. There were no reported injuries to firefighters. At this time, there are no known injuries to civilians.
The building remains identified as an unsafe structure. The fencing, previously installed around the property for public safety reasons, remains intact. City staff continues to work with the property owner to ensure the property stays secured.
