BOYS AND BEER: "When I was a kid, my parents had two auto body shops, and I have three older brothers. I am quite comfortable in a male-dominated field," says MetroWines' new beer specialist Anita Riley. Photo courtesy of Riley

MetroWines’ beer specialist and Brewing Up a Storm blogger Anita Riley hosts her Drink Like a Girl event at the shop on Friday, July 24, from 5-7 p.m.

This iteration of the recurring event features New Belgium Brewing beers, including the company’s fall seasonal called Long Table, and New Belgium’s Western Carolinas beer ranger Wes Gibson will be present to speak about the brews. Local singer/songwriter Nikki Calloway will provide live musical accompaniment during the tasting, which is free and open to the public.
