A-B Tech’s Board of Trustees has adopted a new mission statement for the college

Here’s the press release from A-B Tech:

A-B Tech’s Board of Trustees has adopted a new mission statement for the college, emphasizing the critical role it plays in the area’s economic development.

Over a three-month period, more than 75 faculty, staff, students and members of the A-B Tech Board of Trustees participated in focus groups to determine the values, vision and mission for the College. A group of 20 met twice to narrow the options and collectively came up with Values, Vision and Mission statements, which were approved Feb. 6 by the Board of Trustees.

“We want to place more emphasis on economic development in our statements. We have always had excellent workforce training and an award-winning small business center and incubator, so it was time to acknowledge it in our values, vision and mission,” said A-B Tech President Dr. Hank Dunn. “Our message to the community is that we are focused on economic development in collaboration with all of our partners. Our role is to find the educational or economic need within the community and meet that need through innovation and commitment to student success.”
