Here’s an excerpt from the Asheville Citizen-Times article:
Sewer charges for a typical customer would increase 2.5 percent under a budget tentatively approved by the Metropolitan Sewerage District board Wednesday.
MSD General Manager Tom Hartye attributed higher sewer rates to the need to continue efforts to rehabilitate sewer lines and higher costs for fuel and other things. The agency’s employees will get a 2.1 percent pay increase as part of a 1.4 percent overall increase in salary and benefits, a budget document says.
Under the preliminary MSD budget approved Wednesday, charges for a typical domestic customer would increase from $26.03 a month to $26.68, excluding billing charges.
Billing charges vary within the agency’s service area. The monthly bill for a customer in Asheville will rise from $27.14 to $27.81.
