PRESS RELEASE:

Asheville, N.C. DreamRock/Americana band Alex Krug Combo will christen the stage of Copper Crown on the evening of July 16. Guests will be treated to two free sets by the full six piece band as they enjoy cocktails and food in East Asheville’s favorite gathering spot.

“We’re playing at our favorite place to hang out on the Eastside, a place that
has brought the community together with their affordable delicious food and crazy skilled drinks that is walkable for us. Take the chef of a fancy downtown restaurant that I can never afford to go to and have him and his talented partner build a bistro and bar in their own neighborhood where they want everyone to be able to come to and you get the Copper Crown,” says Krug.

Quote from Copper Crown
“Copper Crown is super excited to welcome the Alex Krug combo for our first ever live music event. Join us for craft cocktails, local draft beer and tasty bites while enjoying free, local live music. We hope to see you there!”

ABOUT ALEX KRUG: The Alex Krug Combo is a dreamrock/americana band rolling out of Asheville, NC. The six piece combo is engrossed in landscape, atmosphere and melodic ecstasy. Alex’s strange and wonderful voice at times fastens so closely to Gramig’s harmony, while the otherworldly lap steel or violin, gritty watery electric guitar, and upright bass are all held together by Bill Berg’s expansive groove. This band will not exit a stage without leaving the audience in some sort of terribly wonderful stupor.

Recently the band has played at LEAF festival, the Orange Peel and Grey Eagle as well as offered support for such acts as The Hip Abduction, Horse Feathers, Donna the Buffalo and Erin McKeown. The new, fourtrack EP called Gentle Spotted Giants is Alex Krug’s second album and the band’s first studio EP as a Combo, recorded at Echo Mountain Recording Studios in downtown Asheville, NC The EP contains an extended cut of “Whale Shark” and is produced by Michael Selverne and Welcome to Mars. Album guests include drummer Bill Berg (Bob Dylan’s “Blood on the Tracks”) and violinist Lyndsay Pruett (Jon Stickley etc).

This talented band opens up the ceiling of instrumentation, rhythm, vocal ecstasy and lyricism in a way that elevates the listener.
