AP: Duke Energy wants citizens group out of coal ash action

Duke Energy is asking a judge to prevent citizens groups from taking part in any enforcement action that would make the company clean up nearly three dozen coal ash pits across North Carolina, the Associated Press reported Tuesday

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources filed a complaint against Duke last year. Several citizens groups got involved in the case, saying the waste dumps polluted groundwater.

But Duke filed a motion Monday to remove the citizens’ groups from the case.

Of course they don’t want anything from citizens other than to accept their constant rate increases, to keep subsidizing their obscene profts with taxpayer dollars, to keep the largesse coming to the politicians they bought and paid for (including this pathetic Governor), to keep their lobbyists ensconsed in the offices of the compromised ‘regulatory agencies’ and to continue to pollute everything in their path to more profit. And with the investment they’ve made in our marginally ‘elected’ politicians, they will probably prevail.
