Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:
ASHEVILLE – On Thursday, 02-23-12, at approx. 3:20 pm, the Asheville Police Department responded to the Sun Trust Bank located at 771 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805; in reference to a report of an Armed Robbery.
Upon arrival, officers met with Bank personnel who advised that a male of mixed complexion, approx. 30 years of age, wearing a grey jacket, red and white ball cap, and brown female wig, entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money and implying that he had a weapon.
After robbing the bank of an indeterminate amount of money, the suspect ran from the bank and was last seen running towards the area of Play it Again Sports. He may possibly be driving an older model Chevy S10.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call crimestoppers at 255-5050 or text APDTIP and your information to 274637 (CRIMES).
