APD Investigates Shooting in West Asheville

Asheville – On 07/09/2012 at approximately 5:47 PM the Asheville Police Department responded to a shooting outside of 336 Short Michigan Avenue. Officers discovered James Dewon Griffin, 24 of Asheville with a gunshot wound to the left thigh. Griffin was transported by Buncombe County EMS to Mission Hospital. He is being treated at this time for what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury.

Officers transported three individuals to Police Headquarters for questioning. Jayleen Marquse Boston, 19 of Asheville has been arrested on outstanding warrants and trespassing charges. He is currently in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $2500.00 secure bond. At this time no charges have been made in connection to today’s shooting. The investigation is continuing and further information will be made available as it develops.
