APD issues Amber alert for abducted child ***9:31 a.m.: Alert is cancelled***

UPDATED 9:31 a.m.: The alert has been cancelled after family of his father brought him to the APD offices.

From the Asheville Police Department:

Asheville – The Asheville Police Department has issued an Amber Alert regarding an incident at the Thunderbird Motel located at 835 Tunnel Rd. Melissa McRae reported her 16 month old son, Jayden Squire was abducted by his father, Russell Wilson Squire from room #102 of the motel. The incident took place at 5:26 PM on 06/20. APD Officer’s were dispatched to assist EOC with a female that was assaulted.

Melissa McRae was reportedly strangled to the point where she lost consciousness and that’s when Russell Allen Wilson Squire left with Jayden Wilson Squire, on foot. The child was wearing only a diaper.

If anyone knows the location of Jayden Wilson Squire or Russell Allen Wilson Squire, please call the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or Crime Stoppers at 828-255-5050 or send a tip via text message specifically to the Asheville PD by Texting “APDTIP plus your tip” to 274637 (CRIMES).
