APD: shots fired at officers in Shiloh

Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:

Asheville – At 12:30 PM today, two officers from the Asheville Police Department were serving a warrant on a man in the Shiloh community near Shiloh Rd. and Brooklyn Rd. when several shots were fired at them from a distance away. The officers dove for cover and called for assistance. A department wide and multi-agency response rushed to the scene. APD and other law enforcement agencies set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect.

After approximately three hours, a person of interest was located and has been transported to the Asheville Police Department for questioning. No injuries have been reported.

The incident is still under investigation. Additional details will be released when they become available.
