Roots + Wings School of Art and Design opened its new Creative Campus in Asheville’s Oakley neighborhood last summer. The new headquarters facility has indeed expanded programming, successfully tripling the school’s size in less than a year. With waitlists for almost all of their programs, Roots + Wings has proven to be an integral part of the Asheville community as a successful and creative woman-owned business since 2009, founded and directed by Ginger Huebner.
Working with ages three and up, Roots + Wings offers programs that encourage and develop imagination, creativity, innovation, critical thinking and confidence so students are better equipped to thrive in life. During this first year at their new Creative Campus, Roots + Wings has hosted numerous community events including Pop Up Adventure Play Days and collaborative exhibits with local organizations. The one-year anniversary celebration will be offering the following opportunities:
Thursday, July 7: Creative Bookmaking Workshops with NYC artist and author Esther Smith visiting from New York City to share her newest book, Making Books with Kids.
Pop up Face Books Heads, Ages 6-8, 12:30-2:00 p.m. (suggested donation $15+)
Middles + Tails Books, Ages 9-12 2:30-4:30 p.m. (suggested donation $20+)
Sunday, July 10: Roots + Wings Creative Campus OPEN HOUSE, all ages, 12noon – 2 p.m., FREE
Also on Sunday, July 10, Sew Together: Sewing machine basics (a multi-generational sewing class) 2:30-5 p.m. (max 6 pairs), ages 6 and up, $35 per pair
Sumi-e painting Workshop (a multi-generational class) 2:30-5 p.m. (max 8 pairs), ages 6 and up, $35 per pair
