Asheville Fire Department sends employees to ‘Nozzle Forward’ training

Press release from Asheville Fire Department:

ASHEVILLE – The Asheville Fire Department will send more than half of their personnel to an exciting training program, Nozzle Forward, on Engine Company Operations and nozzle-work as a craft.  This advanced level of training will be held at the BC Training center September 29 – October 3 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  The training will include a great deal of hands-on drills to help construct more efficient Engine Companies by increasing individuals’ competency with his/her tools and expanding on the conceptual aspects of the fire environment.  These highly skilled instructors will integrate three major components of Engine Company work: Fire Behavior, Hose and Fire Attack and Engine Company Tactics which will teach our experienced firefighters how to integrate skills and problem solving to better read the environment and determine the best course of action to take on a fire scene. The Nozzle Forward is a well-respected training which has been delivered all over the United States including at the International Fire Department Instructors Conference and Andy Fredrick’s Training Days. The Nozzle Forward training comes to us through the cooperative efforts of the Asheville Fire Fighters Association, AFD, AB Tech and the BC Training Center.
