Facts about Montessori Elementary School Asheville

•  Montessori Elementary School of Asheville, located at 235 Weaverville Highway in Asheville, is a small, private school, serving families of Buncombe County and surrounding areas of Western North Carolina.

•  The school is accepting applications for 2016/17 school year.

•   We offer an Elementary level program for students in 1st through 8th grade. MESA has both a Lower Elementary classroom (ages 6-9, grades 1-3) and an Upper Elementary classroom (ages 9-12, grades 4-6). Each classroom has two teachers, with a student-teacher ratio of 12-1. The lead director/directress is experienced and maintains certification with the American Montessori Society. This year we have added a Montessori Middle School program serving grades 7 & 8.

MESA is unique in its structure as an elementary-only Montessori school. Our true Montessori environment offers students a hands-on approach to learning, paired with the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace. The children at Montessori Elementary School of Asheville are guided through the classroom, choosing concrete tools to learn subjects which spark their interest. Using careful observation, teachers assist the child in using the specially designed Montessori materials developed by Maria Montessori herself over one hundred years ago. These materials and methods have stood the test of time, building autonomous and confident learners all over the world.
