Asheville Downtown Association now accepting applications for the 2013 Asheville Holiday Parade

The 67th Asheville Holiday Parade, produced by the Asheville Downtown Association (ADA), may still be months away but planning is underway. This year’s parade will be on Saturday, November 23 at 11am. The parade theme is “A Star is Born” to honor the many talented dancers, painters, singers, actors and artists that reside and perform in our community.

Parade attendees get to extend the day’s festivities at JingleFest held at Roger McGuire Green in Pack Square Park from 1 – 4 pm. The stage show, featuring special performances by dance and song groups from the parade, will entertain while everyone waits for Santa who will be on hand to meet, greet and have a photo taken. There will be inflatables for the kids as well.

Applications for parade entries are available online at ashevilleparade.org or by emailing info@ashevilledowntown.org. Applications are due by Friday, October 4, and may be completed online but will not be valid until entry fee is received.

All entries will be evaluated based on interpretation of theme, community spirit and contribution to the overall parade. Decorated floats and entertaining entries are an important part to the enjoyment of a parade.

The prize structure will award to various categories such as school groups, dance teams and best handmade float. Exact prize categories will be announced later this summer.
