Press Release

Asheville based Jungian analyst and author Dr. Bud Harris has just published his 10th book, Cracking Open: A Memoir of Struggling, Passages, and Transformations. Dr. Harris is known internationally in the world of depth psychology and is considered a true gem and valuable “institution” in Asheville. Julia Cameron, author of The Artist’s Way, has offered this praise: “Bud Harris is a lantern on the path—clear eyed, big hearted and illuminating.”

Cracking Open is a work decades in the making. Sharing his own very personal journal entries, Dr. Harris reflects upon his life and weaves his story of Self. He has the rare ability to share his discoveries and reflections during profound, dramatic moments of his life in clear and honest ways. This book teaches us that, through journaling as a spiritual practice, the past is as open to development as the future. The past is the very foundation of our being; how we understand and relate to it defines who we are and who we are becoming.

Dr. Harris will present Cracking Open at Malaprop’s Bookstore on July 12th at 3pm. He will read passages from the book, hold a q&a session and sign copies of the book.
