Behavioral health technology conference planned for Southeast, May 27

Carolina HealthTEC Live will bring together providers, policy makers, caregivers and consumers who offer or use mental health, developmental disability and substance use disorder services on May 27 for one of the first behavioral health conferences and technology expos catered to the southeast region.

The one-day event will feature interactive opportunities for industry members to share and evaluate the latest advances in technology-enabled care (TEC). Guided discussions about the application of TEC will address specific regional challenges, helping participants identify gaps in the behavioral health care continuum and solutions to strengthen operations in the southeast.

Leading these discussions will be three keynote presentations by internationally-known speakers in the behavioral health fields. Speakers and their respective topics include:

Dr. Gabor Mate, bestselling author of “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts.” A renowned speaker on addiction, stress and childhood development.
Ms. Lynne Seagle, executive director of Hope House Foundation, which became internationally known under her leadership for its innovative, person-centered approach.
Dr. Luis Perez, professional learning chair of the Inclusive Learning Network of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), who is an inclusive learning evangelist with more than a decade of experience working with educators to integrate technology in ways that empower all learners.
“Keeping pace with ever-changing technology is imperative to offering the most complete care to our area’s most vulnerable populations,” said Allison Inman, senior marketing and communications director, Smoky Mountain MCO. The western North Carolina organization is the presenting sponsor of this year’s event. “This is one of the first opportunities of its kind in our region allowing us to interact with the latest devices, apps and software that make delivery of care more effective and efficient.”
