Biltmore releases annual Christmas at Biltmore wines

Asheville, N.C. – Biltmore announces the release of its annual Christmas at Biltmore Wine featuring label artwork designed by Swannanoa resident Terry Owensby, winner of Biltmore’s wine label design contest.

This year’s Christmas at Biltmore Wines are limited release white and rose blends. Both wines are aromatic, refreshing and slightly sweet so they can be sipped on their own or paired with holiday classics such as roasted turkey, baked ham or pumpkin pie. The semi-sweet white wine has flavors of apricot, spice and citrus.  The rose wine features flavors of orange, honeydew and spice.

New this year, the wine label designed by artist Terry Owensby is featured on a banner now on display at Biltmore’s corporate headquarters in downtown Asheville at 1 North Pack Square. The hanging 31’ x 40’ banner printed on light filtering fabric features a reproduction of Terry’s original painting and is installed on the front of the building through January 11, 2015. Information about the artist is on display in the lobby.

 Artist Terry Owensby’s winning label design showcases a storybook vision of a Christmas evening at Biltmore. “I am so excited to have this honor,” Terry said. “This was my second year of entering the wine label contest, and my painting ‘Enchanted Christmas’ captures the feeling of the holidays at Biltmore. I love Biltmore…as a kid in grammar school, we would take field trips there.”

Terry will make two appearances at Biltmore Winery to sign Christmas at Biltmore Wine bottles featuring his winning design — Saturday, November 22 and Saturday, December 20 from 2 to 7 p.m.

Contestants in the wine label design contest were asked to submit an original design, photo or piece of artwork. A panel selected by Biltmore identified semifinalists. The semifinalist submissions were featured on Biltmore.com for fans to vote for their favorite, resulting in Terry’s submission winning the people’s choice and appearing as the 2014 Christmas at Biltmore Wine label.

The contest to select the design for next year’s 2015 Christmas at Biltmore Wine is now open for voting at http://www.biltmore.com/wine/2015-wine-label-contest-voting. A round-up of four favorite finalists from the previous contests are being voted on this year. Voting ends December 31, 2014.

The Christmas at Biltmore Wine is available to purchase at Biltmore Winery, at other estate retail outlets, in area grocery stores and wine retailers, and online at BiltmoreWines.com.
