Blue Ridge Books hold kids event during National Children’s Book Week

Children’s author and illustrator Tony Antonino Jr. will present Fritz Fombie Have No Fear at Blue Ridge Books on Saturday, May 9.

Press release from the book store:

Local children’s author and illustrator Tony Antonino Jr. has written a children’s book entitled Fritz Fombie Have No Fear. Tony Antonino Jr. will be appearing at Blue Ridge Book Store on May 9 to celebrate National Children’s Book Week.  Fritz Fombie Have No Fear is a lighthearted tale of facing your fears, this book mixes suspense and humor to keep eight to thirteen-year-olds laughing and on the edge of their seats. Fritz Fombie Have No Fear also helps children see they’re bigger than their fears. This is the reason why Antonino chose this book to publish instead of others he has written. Antonino believes no child ever  feels fear or lacks something when they’re laughing and smiling, thus his goal for this book.

Many may remember Tony Antonino Jr. in his days as a pizza maker in the family business Angelo’s Pizza located in Waynesville. Antonino was a track star at Tuscola, where he graduated in 1985. He has been writing for more than twenty years. Fritz Fombie Have No Fear is the first book that he has made available for sale. Antonino delights in reading aloud to children in libraries, schools and daycares. A mentor to children in his community, Antonino has also worked with special needs kids.

Saturday May 9 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. He will give a reading from his book Fritz Fombie Have No Fear and a signing. Antonino will also be teaching the kids how to draw manga, which is Japanese comic art. Antonino’s bio picture in his book is the same form of manga that he will be teaching the kids. One lucky child who attends will win a handmade hat in the image of Fritz.  The hat will be raffled during the reading.
