Blue Spiral 1 opens exhibit New Times Three on New Year’s Eve

PRESS RELEASE:

Blue Spiral 1’s new shows open this Thursday, December 31 (New Years Eve) with a reception from 5-8pm and will run through February.

Blue Spiral 1 is celebrating twenty-five years! The destination gallery was a forerunner in the revitalization of downtown Asheville, and continues to set a standard of excellence for visual arts in the area. Blue Spiral 1 marks this milestone anniversary with a special, silver-themed exhibition and a New Years Eve opening reception.

A select group of artists that have shown with Blue Spiral 1 over the years were invited to make works in a variety of media for the Silver Anniversary exhibition. Paintings and sculptural objects in glass, metal, ceramic, fiber, mixed media, and wood are all featured. Highlights include abstract paintings by one of the gallery’s original artists, Scott Upton, earthenware vessels embellished with silver leaf by Sang Roberson, and incised aluminum panels by Mitchell Lonas.
