Proceeds from the auction will benefit Dr. Bob’s Sound School, the Foundation’s educational program that teaches children the science of sound through the magic of music. Using electronic musical instruments such as theremins, synthesizers and effect pedals, as well as oscilloscopes and other teaching aides, the innovative program engages children in the basic physics of sound through the parameters of electronic music. Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool recently completed its pilot year with resounding success, and is currently in 32 classrooms reaching over 600 students in Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools. As part of Jam Cruise’s Positive Legacy Program the Bob Moog Foundation brought Dr. Bob’s Workshop, a condensed version of Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, to children in the Grand Turks along with Bernie Worell, Joel Cummins, and Rich Vogel. The Bob Moog Foundation is looking forward to regional and national expansion for the curriculum in the years ahead.

The limited edition red Little Phatty® synthesizer was donated to the Bob Moog Foundation by Moog Music, Inc. The Little Phatty Stage II® is a monophonic analog synthesizer manufactured by Moog Music since 2006. The Little Phatty Stage II® brings true analog synthesis to contemporary performance and production, making it modern music powerhouse.

The Bob Moog Foundation honors the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog through its mission of igniting the innovative and creativity spirit through the intersection of music, science, history, and innovation. Its projects include the Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, which brings electronic musical instruments into the schools to teach children science through music; the Archive Preservation Initiative, an effort to preserve and protect the inventor’s extensive and historical archive; and the future Moogseum, an innovative educational, historical, and cultural facility that will bring Bob Moog’s spirit alive through interactive, experiential exhibits.
