Body of missing Canton man found in South Carolina

On Monday, Feb. 8, 57-year-old Jeffery Scott Turner of Canton was reported missing by his family — last seen around 11 a.m. on Monday, driving his ‘87 black Toyota pickup truck.

Turner’s truck was found Tuesday afternoon Feb. 9, near the Chattooga River in Mountain Rest South Carolina by local authorities.

Authorities and members of Turner’s family searched the area on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — eventually locating his body shortly before noon today, Friday, Feb. 12.

“It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the body of Jeffrey Scott Turner was found … in northern Oconee County, S.C.,” writes Hunter Frederick, a family representative. “The family would like to thank the entire Canton community for their love, prayers and support. we ask that you continue to keep the Turner family in your prayers and ask for respect for the family’s privacy at this time.”
