Brevard College’s EarthFest, April 12

Community members of all ages are invited to celebrate Earth Day at Brevard College’s EarthFest this Saturday, April 12.

Come enjoy a day of free family fun and environmental activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the College’s amphitheatre beside the Porter Center for Performing Arts.

A number of local organizations will be on hand to share information on recycling, rain barrels, composting, and more. Children will enjoy the Kid’s Village where they can create crafts from recycled materials, learn how to tie dye and meet a variety of animals from Earthshine Nature Center. There will be handmade arts and crafts available for sale by area artisans and music provided throughout the day by local bands, ProMuGoVa, XO The Band and Spencer & the String Ticklers. Free raffles for rain barrels, Mountain Song Festival tickets as well as gift cards to a variety of local restaurants and businesses will be offered as well.

Earthfest is sponsored by the Brevard College Earthfest Planning Committee and Brevard College Campus Life Division, along with the Brevard Rock Gym, the Cradle of Forestry Interpretive Association, D.D. Bullwinkle’s, Earthshine Nature Programs, Gaia Herbs, Kings Creek Books, Kiwi Gelato, Local Color, Mayberry’s, Mellow Mushroom, Mountain Song Productions, O.P. Taylors, Pescado’s, Phoenix Lounge,  Pioneer Foods, Sierra Club, and The Hub.
