Brevard College presents organist Sarah Mahler Kraaz in concert March 23

Brevard College will host a performance by award-winning guest organist Dr. Sarah Mahler Kraaz on Sunday, March 23 in the College’s Porter Center for Performing Arts.

The 3 p.m. concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the College’s Guest Artist Series this year.

Dr. Kraaz, a professor of music and chair of the music department at Ripon College, will perform toccatas by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Bernardo Pasquini and Charles-Marie Widor as well as sonatas by Gaetano Valerj and Giuseppe Gherardeschi. Sunday’s program will also include works by Jan Pieterzoon Sweelinck, André Raison, Dieterich Buxtehude, Johann Sebastian Bach and Louis Vierne.

A member of Ripon’s faculty since 1989, Dr. Kraaz has performed recitals and lecture recitals throughout the United States as well as Scotland and Italy. She is also a member of the Concert Artists Cooperative based in Santa Rosa, Calif. Dr. Kraaz holds a bachelor’s degree from Olivet College and graduate degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of Kansas.
