Brevard resident named national spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity

Here’s the press release:

BREVARD NC RESIDENT MARLA “THE FLYLADY” CILLEY NAMED NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL

(Brevard, NC – February 7, 2012) – Marla Cilley of Brevard, North Carolina, known to millions of women who follow her as “The FlyLady,” this week was named spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity International, an organization with 1500 chapters across the U.S. and in over 80 countries. Cilley, who encourages and mentors women to de-clutter their homes and overcome CHAOS (Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome), says the partnership is a perfect fit. “I’m excited to represent Habitat for Humanity International,” said Cilley. “I encourage my ladies to get rid of clutter in their homes, and get rid of what they don’t love or need. What better way to bless someone else with those things than to donate items to a local Habitat ReStore resale store.” Proceeds from 750 Habitat ReStore resale stores in the U.S. help build homes for families living in substandard housing.

Cilley, a New York Times best-selling author and syndicated newspaper columnist, has a following of approximately one million women on a daily basis. Habitat for Humanity is equally thrilled with the partnership with the internationally popular “FlyLady.” “We are so grateful to Marla and of her efforts to help raise awareness about Habitat for Humanity,” said Chris Clarke, Senior Vice President of Communications with Habitat for Humanity International. “Habitat’s ReStore resale outlets provide donors with an excellent way to donate their reusable home improvement items to Habitat to help low-income families achieve simple, decent and affordable housing.”

Marla Cilley will further carry the Habitat for Humanity message when she embarks this summer on a nationwide 10-city summer bus tour. Cilley is also playing a major role in an upcoming reality series focused on the goings-on and people of her hometown, Brevard, North Carolina. Shooting is set to begin in March 2012. As a core cast member, Cilley’s day-to-day activities will feature prominently in the series.

Additional FlyLady stats:

– 6.6 million total listeners to weekly online radio show (and archived shows)
– 2.9 million YouTube upload views, 239k Facebook fans, 29k Twitter followers
