Brush fire in Mills River forced evacuations, damaged homes and 40 acres

“A 40-acre forest fire that forced a handful of residents to evacuate and damaged two homes Tuesday [March 27] was fully contained by 10:30 p.m.,” the Hendersonville Times-News reported.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 2:15 p.m. after a 911 caller reported the fire. As the blaze grew, residents at several homes along Stags Run off of North Mills River Road were evacuated “due to the fast-moving nature of the fire,” Livingston said. …
