Canton Branch Library hosts free class on medicinal herbs

Press release from Canton Branch Library:

Free Class on Medicinal Herbs

Learn how to grow and prepare herbs for healing at a free introductory class on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 5 p.m. at the Canton Branch Library. Naturopath Michelle Sanderbeck, ND, and herbalist and herb grower Garth Kuver from Genesis Gardens will discuss the history of medicinal herbs, how to grow them, and how to make tinctures, poultices and decoctions that can be used for healing.

Participants will be given information on a variety of different herbs and their medicinal uses. Did you know that many commonly grown plants have medicinal properties? For example, when lavender is taken internally, it may help with restlessness, insomnia, nervousness and depression, and has many other uses. Peppermint is an antispasmodic, and can have a relaxing effect on the muscles of the digestive system. However, it is important to know how to properly prepare herbs for healing – come learn for free how to do so from experts!
