Chief medical officer of Blue Ridge Community Health Services recognized for excellence

(Hendersonville, NC) — Blue Ridge Community Health Services’ (BRCHS) Chief Medical Officer, Shannon Dowler, MD has received the North Carolina Community Health Center Association’s (NCCHCA) Association Contribution Award. This award is given to an individual that has contributed significantly to the enhancement of the NCCHCA and its mission to promote and support patient-governed Community Health Centers, like BRCHS and the populations they serve.

Dr. Dowler was nominated for this award by demonstrating over a period of time a level of excellence in promoting Community Health Centers at both the state and national level that sets her apart in a distinctive manner. The recipient of this award has shown excellence above and beyond the other candidates, which include all levels of health care providers.

“I was deeply honored to be recognized for my efforts around healthcare access with this award” says Dowler. “This is an incredibly important time in health care in America and the role of Community Health Centers is vital to the dream of equal access to healthcare for all. I’m truly grateful for this recognition.”

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA) is the state’s Primary Care Association. Formed in 1978 by the leadership of community health centers, NCCHCA is comprised of membership from each of the 31 health center grantees, 3 Look-alike organizations, aspiring health centers and other partners. The NCCHCA was created to advance the common mission of health centers across the state. NCCHCA represents the interests of North Carolina’s health centers to federal, state, and local agencies and officials.
