Citizen-Times profiles Buncombe District Attorney’s race

From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

ASHEVILLE – The campaign kickoffs could not have had more contrast.

Challenger Todd Williams rallied a crowd outside at Wedge Brewing Company in the River Arts District. His speech notes flapped in the afternoon breeze as he paced the low stage.

Incumbent Ron Moore greeted supporters on the top floor of the Renaissance Hotel downtown, where most of the men wore ties and a podium stood in the corner as a place for him to speak.

The men, both Democrats, are vying for the office of District Attorney in a race that will be decided in May with the primary election.

The campaign storyline so far has been one of defense attorney Williams promising a fair approach to prosecution in the 28th Judicial District while questioning the integrity of longtime DA Moore, who is known for his aggressive and sometimes controversial handling of cases.
