Council on Aging for Henderson County receives President’s Award from Aging Projects

Press release from Council on Aging for Henderson County:

Hendersonville, NC, September 22, 2016 – Thursday, September 22nd marked the 6th annual “Aging in Place. It’s In Your Future” conference held at Blue Ridge Community College and hosted by Aging Projects. At the conference, President James Kelly awarded the Council on Aging for Henderson County the prestigious President’s Award.

“As we grow older, increasing challenges can make it difficult to remain independent. A few readily come to mind such as the ability to shop, prepare  and serve a nutritious meal, or becoming socially isolated due to distant family and friends, or suddenly becoming homebound due to a change in health or financial situation. These are real challenges that many of our neighbors increasingly face every day of the week.” says Mr. Kelly. “We are fortunate to have the Council on Aging for Henderson County, an organization that has made a profound difference in the lives of individuals facing these challenges by providing services that make it possible for them to remain in their homes.”

“We are so humbled to receive this award from Aging Projects.” says Trina Stokes, Council on Aging for Henderson County Executive Director “it means so much to know the community values our seniors and their desire to remain living independently for as long as possible. We are proud to work alongside groups such as Aging Projects and others who were in attendance at the Aging in Place conference.”

Aging Projects, www.agingprojectsinc.org, is a website which exists to bring human services information and resources to older adults in Henderson County so they can remain in their own homes as they age.
