Council on Aging heat relief program now open

From a press release:

The annual Heat Relief program at The Council on Aging of Buncombe County is now accepting requests for heat relief assistance at (828) 277-8288.

The Heat Relief program is funded by Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Foundation.  The Council will have 145 fans available for distribution.

Fans are available to any Buncombe County resident aged 60 and older or to persons under age 60 who have a disabling health condition. Air conditioners are available but are limited. Air conditioners are accessible only to persons aged 60 and older, and a doctor’s note is required. The use of air conditioners significantly increases utility cost.

For more information, contact Heather Roberts-VanSickle at heatherrv@coabc.org or call (828) 277-8288
