Day-long tattooing fundraiser Paws for A Cause supports Asheville Humane Society, Sept. 13

West Asheville’s Freaks & Geeks Tattoo Sideshow is donating 100% of proceeds from annual event Paws for a Cause to Asheville Humane Society. The day-long fundraiser — which will be held at the shop on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. — calls on animal lovers to choose one of four paw-themed tattoos for $40 cash. Organizers are hoping to beat their 2014 outcome of $2,700 raised.

Here is the full event release:

On September 13 the West Asheville tattoo parlor, Freaks & Geeks Tattoo Sideshow, will once again be donating 100% of the day’s proceeds to Asheville Humane Society during Paws for a Cause. This marks the 7th year the crew from Freaks & Geeks has dedicated a day of inking to raise money and awareness for Asheville Humane Society’s lifesaving programs. For eight hours, artists will be tattooing from a selection of four pet-related designs priced at $40 each.

Tiffany LeMeaux opened Freaks & Geeks on Haywood Road in 2006 and since 2009 has held this fundraising event for Asheville Humane Society. Meant to be a fun way to support the local animal shelter and raise awareness for their community programs and adoption services, Paws for a Cause has become a highly anticipated event each year drawing support from both ink enthusiasts and those getting their first tattoo.

“We are so appreciative of Freaks & Geeks’ generosity, said Asheville Humane Society Executive Director Tracy Elliott. This is such a fun event and so many animal lovers and Asheville Humane Society supporters look forward to this every year. It’s a wonderful way to help animals in need while getting a beautiful tattoo!”

Last year, in 2014, the tattoo shop raised $2,700 with the single day event and hopes to top that this year.

“No appointments will be taken,” says LeMeaux. “So be sure to get there early and do your part to raise funds while getting a great tattoo.”
