James Bohman, author of Democracy Across Borders: From Demos to Demoi, will discuss “The Emergence of Mass Democracy,” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, in UNC Asheville’s Karpen Hall, Laurel Forum. This lecture is free and open to the public.
Bohman’s most recent book, Democracy Across Borders: From Demos to Demoi, argues that democracy needs to be re-characterized as a transnational ideal, and his primary areas of research include political philosophy and the philosophy of social science. He holds the Danforth I Chair in the Humanities at Saint Louis University and is a professor of philosophy and international studies. He is the author or editor of more than 10 books and has earned degrees from Boston University, the University of Chicago, the University of Frankfurt, the University of Munster and Fordham University.
