Expect high today near 24 and a low tonight of 12 degrees

Asheville area residents were shivering in 9 degree temperatures by mid-morning Friday, and the National Weather Service said to keep the warm clothes handy for the next few days.

The high Friday is expect to reach 24, but temperatures will drop again Friday night, going as low as 12, the weather service predicted.

Saturday should be warmer, but it brings with it a 20 percent chance of snow.

When can the area expect relief? Toward the end of next week.
